Nashville Season 5
The landscape of the music industry is not static. Who was once famous in his time will soon fade. But that doesn’t mean that giving in to a rising star is easy. And staying relevant in the industry is hard work every musician is willing to do.

Juliette survives a plane crash and gets help from a concerned citizen. She goes into rehab following the accident. Rayna deems that the next album should be about her and former flame Deacon, which doesn’t really sit well with Deacon and Bucky. Rayna also sees financial hardships, as making a music video is costly. Maddie’s solo career goes further, and is later nominated for an American Music Award. This musical drama series is available on DVD.

Shetland Season 3

If crime drama series is your thing, then Shetland, based on Ann Cleeves’ novels, is for you. Let’s follow Detective Jimmy Perez and his team as they solve incidents case by case.

Detective Perez surmises that the incident regarding a missing young man on the overnight ferry and a boy in the ICU are connected. A corpse of a young man is discovered, and Perez assumes that Michael Maguire has something to do with it. However, enemies lurking around won’t let Perez get to do his job in discovering the truth.

The Greatest Showman
Hugh Jackman stars in this heartwarming and inspiring musical. Also starring in this film are Zac Efron from High School Musical and Baywatch, Michelle Williams, Zendaya, and Rebecca Ferguson. This movie is inspired from the life of P.T. Barnum, the creator behind the Barnum & Bailey Circus.

P.T. Barnum goes from nothing, from a simple clerk  of a shipping company, to a visionary who shares his magical creations to the world. He starts off from utilizing wax models to hiring people, a playwright, and a singer for his troupe. But things don’t come easy for Barnum, when he has a falling out with his troupe, finds his circus in a fire and losing everything he had built up from scratch, and gets into a scandal which crumbles his family life. But for every fall, there is redemption.

The Shape Of Water

“The Shape of Water” is one of Director Guillermo del Toro’s best works by far. No wonder it received numerous nominations and awards at the 90th Academy Awards, the 75th Golden Globe Awards, the 71st British Academy Film Awards, and the 23rd Critics’ Choice Awards.

This movie tells the love story between a amphibious creature and a mute janitor in a clandestine government research facility. In the 1960s during the Cold War, an amphibious humanoid, which is captured for research by the American scientists, is also fancied by the Russian spies. However, lonely janitor Elisa forms a friendship with the humanoid, resulting to a romantic relationship afterwards. But just like any love story, there will always be people willing to stop them from being together, most of them having their own motives.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri

A mother’s love is so great that it will do everything, even going as far as renting three billboards to call out the lack of progress surrounding her daughter’s murder. This is the premise of this movie by Martin McDonagh. “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri” was also nominated during the 90th Academy Awards, and brought home several awards, including Best Actress—Drama for Frances McDormand, who stars in the lead role.

 

The rape and murder of Angela, Mildred Hayes’ daughter, goes unresolved for seven months. It takes Mildred three billboards and three short but controversial statements to shock everyone in Ebbing, and put the credibility of the law enforcement to the test.

Black Panther

You can’t go wrong with a Marvel DVD. “Black Panther” stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, and  Martin Freeman in this 18th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Wakanda, a place posing as a third-world country, is actually a technologically advanced nation. T’Challa returns home to Wakanda to do his duties and assume the throne, following the death of his father, T’Chaka. However, assuming the throne is not easy, as a major persona poses as threat to the crown. As Black Panther, T’Challa must team up with a CIA Agent and allies to prevent war.
